During times of economic uncertainty, applications to graduate school programs, especially MBA programs, rise dramatically. So this post is for all you guys and gals about the hit the books once more. If you are signing up for a traditional, two-year, full-time business school, remember one thing: the first year is all that counts. Not that your second year isn’t important; on the contrary, that is when you get to take the really interesting classes and where you learn the details and nuance of the profession you want to explore. But the first year gets you your internship, and your internship is everything: context, experience, a future job, a future chit in job negotiations.
Do do yourself a favor and start hunting for that internship now. It will make the rest of your life in school so much easier.
