Bletchley Park Coding Exercises

Enigma Machine (Bletchley Park)

I love Bletchley Park, and cannot wait to visit one day. Home to the Turing machine and the breaking of the German Enigma codes in World War II, it is a fascinating place both scientifically and historically.

It’s website, however, could use a little polish (and if you are reading this, lovely people at Bletchley Park, I am offering to help). There is a tremendous amount of interesting information on the site, as well as potential for even more links and education tools. However, it is all buried in menus that look alike, do not always load correctly, and change as you get further and further into the site (I do fix these kinds of things for a living, so my criticism is at least quite informed).

Nevertheless, there are some wonderful resources on the site, one of which I wanted to call to your attention.

It is the code page!

If you are a teacher, or just love puzzles, download some of these exercises. I had so much fun going through them, and you and your students will too!

A wonderful site, even if does lack my scrub.
