I have loved every minute (or rather, every hour) of my work as a judge in the 2008 Weblog Awards. I won’t say what categories I judged (so delete that hate mail to me now), but I will say that it was fun, inspiring, and educational to work with so many websites and the Weblog Awards coordinators and judges. Here’s the latest on what is happening. If you are bored with the lack of content on your regular blogs during the holidays, or just looking for something new, spend some time reviewing the finalist lists. Some of these blogs are real hidden gems.
“Finalists for The 2008 Weblog Awards have been announced.
There were over 5,000 nomination for us to sort through and visit,
and it was a very difficult task. When the process pushed the
potential voting dates too close to Christmas we made the decision to
hold off voting until after the New Year.
From all of the nominations we have selected nearly 500 finalists in
48 categories. The full list of finalists is here:
http://2008.weblogawards.org/site-news/2008-weblog-awards-finalists/
Finalist badges will be available Wednesday. Voting is scheduled to
begin January 5.”

Cool. I do try to look out for the nominees, just as a way of coming across blogs that I haven't seen before, but which have excellent content.
Woo congrats to the winners! I bet it wasn't an easy decision there..
Ben
I almost forgot about it.. Happy new year in 2009 by the way. Cheers and all the best =)
and Happy New Year to you too! Though I am rather excited about Lunar
New Year too. I lived in Asia for 8 years and always loved Lunar New
Year.
Indeed, it was not…. You are right!
So true – it's a great way to learn new sites. This year's nominees
are fantastic.
