In the blog world, there is this idea that you should create a “landing page” for your site that sort of explains it to new visitors. The thinking is that blogs are full of information, but that the information is not always presented in a way that is immediately apparent to newcomers. Bloggers are advised to create this landing page to welcome and orient new readers, in the hopes of “converting” them to daily readers.
Yes, I read too many blogging advice blogs.
Anyway, I found this idea appealing because I immediately renamed the landing page – at least in my own mind – the “kersplat page.” Isn’t that so much better? It sounds very Alice in Wonderland to me. One minute you’re sitting on your same, familiar morning blog, reading about the author’s latest fight with their crazy neighbor, and then – whooooooosh! – you’re on Yield to Pedestrian.
Oh! The confusion! What to read first? What is this place? What’s with all the yellow?
Thankfully, the fall is cushioned by YTP’s kersplat page, officially entitled The YTP User’s Guide.
So faithful YTP readers, do me the favor of perusing my new creation, and let me know if it is true to the YTP experience. I wouldn’t want to give people the wrong impression.

YTP regularly participates in book review carnivals, especially since I spend most of my free time buried in a book. The carnivals are a nice way to share the reading experience. I especially love reading review round-ups. Check out the latest book review carnival here.
