I have a strong aversion to land-based bugs (just ask YTP Spouse), but for some reason, when I am diving, I think underwater bugs are the greatest things ever. On a dive once in Indonesia, I used up an entire tank of air letting a purple and orange nudibranch, much like the one pictured here I found at Science Ray, crawl up and down my arm. I would never in a million trillion years let a land slug do this. But underwater bugs, seem, you know, clean somehow. And who doesn’t like saying the word “nudibranch”? Come on, it’s like the best word ever.
I want to do a dive one day where I line up 20 or so of these guys on my arms and legs and get a really nice shot of me covered in nudibranches. How awesome would that be? I wonder how many other people have “take photograph of self covered in sea slugs” on their “To Do Before I Die List”? I’m betting it’s more than you think.
